Services for the film community

VisionNet

History

VisionNet has been providing on-line, location-finding services to the local film industry since 2003.

Started by a group of location professionals led by Michael Gazetas, VisionNet has focused on creating internet-based tools that give local filmmakers a competitive advantage by saving them time and money.

The on-line locations library was the first service to be offered by VisionNet but our portfolio has expanded significantly and now includes a number of services such as our VisionProject rooms. These on-line production centres help your production manage ongoing film project more effectively.

VisionNet’s on-line services were re-launched in April 2007 to include the features and upgrades that had been requested by our clients.

Company

VisionNet provides tools that attract more film business to British Columbia while also making the process of filmmaking easier and more efficient.

Along with our on-line locations library service that we provide at no charge for BC locations professionals, VisionNet provides tools to help our customers share digital photographs, video and electronic files securely with their target audience.

With the re-launch of our services in April 2007, VisionNet moves from being a company offering services within a particular region to one that satisfies the global demand for affordable and easy-to-use tools that unite filmmakers and spur film production.

Our philosophy includes the concept of a collaboration between individuals wanting to have their property or business promoted as a potential filming site and the movie industry professionals who are searching for the ideal site for their upcoming projects.

Benefits

VisionNet takes pride in the fact that we provide concrete benefits to all parties involved in a filming project.

Our VisionPitch rooms allow film commissions and executive producers a widely-customisable tool to help them win business to the region they work.

Our VisionProject rooms give producers and production managers an on-line production centre that saves them money by speeding the time it takes to make decisions while providing a secure, on-line record of the alternatives available and the decisions taken.

Our VisionConnect on-line locations library benefits location scouts and location managers by providing a wide assortment of digital pictures of sought-after locations that can be viewed 24-hours a day.

By making these location files available so easily, we reduce over-scouting on the most popular filming locations in a region while freeing time and attention that a location manager or location scout needs to find the challenging backdrops that are needed for their project.

VisionPIM (Private Image Management) is a private, searchable on-line library offered to each location professional where they can store 100,000 of their own digital photographs and access them from anywhere in the world. This account is user-name/password protected and can be used to back-up for the photographs stored on their laptop or archived to CD-ROMs.

Team

Michael Gazetas

President
Michael, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, has been working in the movie business since 1994. A veteran location manager, Michael has worked on every type of project, from TV Series to independent documentaries.
An emerging entreprenuer, Michael's Vision has been to create a collaborative online scouting and projet managerment system that allows the "directors vision" to be delivered quickly, professionally, and on budget.
He has been building VisionNet in a collaborative process with other dedicated Location Managers and Scouts during the past three and half years. VisionNet's success is due in part to its extensive real world beta testing and test marketing.
Michael is well known for his enthusiasm, passion for life, and love of Cinema; not too mention large scale projects. Many of these traits are gifts from a family of overachievers. Aristides, his now retired Father, was a respected theatre and film professor for over 45 years. Mary, his Mum, is a gifted artist, writer and community activist. Michael calls his parents the perfect blend of theory and action.
In 2007, Michael invited John Roberts, his schoolhood mate who has returned from the UK after 7 years working in interational business, to join VisionNet.

John Roberts

Vice President

John is delighted to be able to join VisionNet after Michael has already done all the hard work in creating such great services and now just needs some help telling people about them.

In touch with the money-grubbing, capitalist side of his soul from an early age, John is a graduate of the UBC Commerce program and has worked in sales for the last 17 years with companies using innovative technology to solve business problems. Despite these personal flaws, Michael seems happy enough to have John on the team and hopes that he will one day relax enough to stop wearing a tie to work.

Along with fierce loyalty to Michael and a somewhat dubious accent, the most noticeable thing that John brings to the office is a complete commitment to outstanding customer service.
